Executive Officers

John M. Ballbach
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

John M. Ballbach has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of VWR International, LLC since 2005. He was appointed Chairman of the Board in June 2007 and is currently the Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee.

Before joining VWR, John was a private investor and President of Ballbach Consulting LLC. Prior to that, he was an officer of The Valspar Corporation, serving as its President and Chief Operating Officer from 2002 until 2004 and as the Senior Vice President of EPS, Color Corporation and Operations, from 2000 to 2002. He joined the Valspar Corporation in 1990 and was appointed Group Vice President, Packaging in 1998. John serves on the Board of Directors of The Timken Company and is an Advisory Board member of Guardian Capital Partners.

John holds a bachelor of arts degree from Georgetown College, where he is a Trustee Fellow, and a master of business administration degree from the Harvard Business School.

Gregory L. Cowan
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Gregory L. Cowan is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position he has held since June 2009. In his current role, Greg is responsible for the Company's financial operations on a global basis and for overseeing VWR's Investor Relations Group.

Greg joined the company in December 2004. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as Vice President and Corporate Controller. Since joining VWR, Greg has overseen compliance efforts, the development of global policies and procedures, as well as, internal and external reporting processes. Before joining VWR, Greg spent approximately five years at CDI Corporation in various senior financial positions, including Corporate Controller, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Office and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to CDI Corporation, he was Vice President of Internal Audit at Crown Cork and Seal Company, Inc. for approximately six years and a senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC, where he served in various audit capacities for eleven years. Greg serves on the Board of Directors of Emtec, Inc.

Greg graduated from Rutgers University with an accounting degree and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Manuel A.H. Brocke-Benz
Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Europe, Lab Distribution and Services

Manuel Brocke-Benz is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Europe, Lab Distribution and Services, a position he has held since January 2006. In his current role, Manuel is responsible for all sales, marketing, services and operations for the Company's European Lab business.

Manuel joined the Company in 1987. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager Continental Europe from 2003 to 2005 and as Corporate Senior Vice President Process Excellence from 2001 to 2003. During the years 1996 to 2001 he served as General Manager Benelux countries, Vice President European Key Accounts, Vice President European Marketing and Corporate Senior Vice President Global E-business.

Manuel holds a law degree from Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany.

Eddy Wu
Senior Vice President and President of Asia Pacific

Eddy Wu is the Senior Vice President and President of Asia Pacific, a position he has held since August 2008. In his current role, Eddy is responsible for leadership of VWR's overall activities in Asia Pacific include existing business in India, China and Singapore, as well as its Global Sourcing and Services organizations operating in the region.

Prior to joining VWR, Eddy most recently was the President & CEO for Momentive Performance Materials, Asia-Pacific, located in Tokyo, from December 2006 to August 2008. Prior to the acquisition of Momentive by a private equity firm, he was the President & CEO of the company otherwise known as GE Toshiba Silicone. During Eddy's 18 years with GE, he held various general management, sales and marketing roles in North America and Asia.

Eddy has a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Hong Kong and a master of business administration degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Theodore C. Pulkownik
Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development

Theodore Pulkownik is the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development, a position he has held since July 2004. Ted is responsible for global mergers & acquisitions, corporate-center led initiatives and strategy. He is also responsible for VWR's Global Export organization. Since joining VWR, he has led multiple successful acquisition efforts in Europe, Asia and North America, initiated several major corporate initiatives including the start-up of VWR's Shared Services Center in Coimbatore, India.

Prior to joining VWR in 2004, Ted held two positions with Standard & Poors, which is a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies. From 2002 until 2004, he was a Managing Director of Standard & Poors Corporate Value Consulting, and from 2000 to 2002, was the Senior Vice President, Business Development, for Standard & Poors. From 1999 until 2000 Ted was a Senior Vice President for Holberg Industries, Inc., a diversified private holding company located in Greenwich, Connecticut. From 1997 until 1999, he was a Managing Director, Corporate Business and Development, for General Electric Capital Corporation. Prior to GE, Ted spent 5 years with McKinsey & Co. as a consultant in McKinsey's New York and Connecticut offices and 9 years with Procter & Gamble in Brand Management and Finance.

Ted holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Wisconsin and a master of business administration degree from the University of Michigan.

Paul Dumas
Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Paul A. Dumas is the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, a position he has held since October 2007. In his role, Paul is responsible for VWR's Human Resources initiatives and processes, including talent acquisition, talent management & development, workforce & succession planning, organization effectiveness, compensation, benefits, payroll, HR services and communications.

Prior to joining VWR in 2007, Paul served as the Executive Vice President, Human Resources & Administration with Agere Systems Inc., where he led the global Human Resources, Workplace Services and Communications functions. He joined Agere Systems in 2001 as the Vice President, Global Human Resources before being appointed to his most recent position in 2005. Before joining Agere Systems, Paul served as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources with Excel Communications. Previously, Paul held numerous other Human Resources positions with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, PepsiCo, Inc., Cole-Haan Inc., Haagen-Dazs Company Inc. and Merck & Co., Inc.

Paul holds a bachelor of science degree from Johnson & Wales University and a masters in human resources and organization development degree from the University of San Francisco.

Charles Patel
Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer

Charles (Rusty) Patel is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, a position he has held since June 2007. In this role, Rusty is responsible for global Information Services including the management of business unit and corporate shared application services, business continuity, infrastructure and operations, and information security and risk management.

Prior to joining VWR, Rusty held a variety of leadership roles at Motorola, Inc., from 2002 to 2007. He was IT leader for the North American region of the global handset business, CIO for the Integrated Electronics Systems business unit and Vice President of Information Services supporting enterprise Sales, Service and Marketing. Previously, he was with A.T. Kearney, Inc. as a Principal in the Strategic Information Technology Practice. In this position, Rusty was responsible for business development, client services and intellectual capital/practice development supporting automotive, financial services and pharmaceutical industries. He began his career at Electronic Data Systems Corporation as a systems engineer, where he provided a variety of system integrator services for Delphi Corporation including support for business development activity implementing supply chain solutions for international joint ventures and acquisitions.

Rusty graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master of business administration specializing in management information services from the University of Notre Dame.

George Van Kula
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

George Van Kula is the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, a position he has held since May 2006. George joined VWR from Honeywell International Inc. where he served as Vice President and General Counsel, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), based out of Brussels, Belgium.

George joined Honeywell in December 1996, and held several positions before becoming Vice President and General Counsel, EMEA in November 2001. He was responsible for the legal affairs of Honeywell's EMEA operations with over $7 billion in revenue and 27,000 employees. Prior to joining Honeywell, George spent the first eight years of his legal career with Latham & Watkins LLP in the Los Angeles and London offices, providing counsel to U.S. and foreign companies and investment banks in a variety of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions and general corporate matters.

George received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Jon Michael Colyer
Vice President and General Manager of Science Education

Jon Michael Colyer is the Vice President and General Manager of Science Education, a position he has held since May 2005. In this role, Mike is responsible for all sales, marketing, services and operations for the Company's Science Education business. Mike joined VWR in 2004 as Vice President North American Call Centers. Since joining VWR, he has been instrumental in growing the business 30% and building a strong customer focused team.

Prior to joining VWR, Mike worked for Textron Inc., a large industrial conglomerate, as the Director for Enterprise Excellence and Director of Bell Helicopter's Composite Manufacturing facility. Prior to Textron, he spent five years with GE in various roles including Six Sigma Black Belt, Ecommerce Program Manager, and Leadership Development Program Member.

Mike graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master of business administration degree in corporate finance

Theresa Balog
Vice President, Corporate Controller

Theresa Balog is the Vice President, Corporate Controller, a position she has held since September 2009. In her current role, Teri is responsible for VWR's internal and external reporting, as well as managing VWR's system of internal controls.

Prior to joining VWR, Teri served as the Executive Director and Chief Accounting Officer for MSCI Barra, a provider of investment decision support tools to investment institutions worldwide, since 2008. While in this position Teri hired and organized a worldwide accounting organization and was responsible for the oversight of MSCI's compliance efforts. In addition to her experience at MSCI Barra, Teri has served in various financial leadership positions at Keyspan Energy, NiSource and Columbia Energy Group. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of SBLI, USA Life Insurance Company.

Teri holds a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from St. Mary's College and a master of science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware. In addition, Teri is also a Certified Public Accountant.
